Before and after 9/11? Wow, HUGE changes, as i found myself largely abandoned by the "left" and even the"ultra left" i'd been a part of since 1973, dropped a political collaborator i'd been working with for 25 years, who like much of the milieu completely bought the official story of what happened that day, even if not the ... countermeasures. Pretty much just me and my close colleague/best friend Tod. Before and after Jan 2008: my mom was in her last few months, died this month that year. That sure changed the way i related to society, she was the last surviving member of my nuclear family unit.
Indeed, keep as much of the interior landscape as you can private. Resist the temptation to "share."
I like the idea of creativity as "active engagement with the world"!!! The hell with digital passivity, going along with digital mania.
