I would not be using those glasses for more than about two seconds. Forget it. I explain this in my most recent article...poke around these substacks and you'll find it easily.
If you're asking the question, I must admit, I get quite squirmy hearing talks about sex.
I also feel I naturally came by many of my experiences by just that, experience that occurred in the moment. That was the beauty & freedom of the 70's and 80's. It is nothing like that now.
I did not philosophize about it, or make it into a mental exercise, or purposely decide on certain experiences. Organic. Natural.
But, from the time I was young child, I had a strong drive to be a mother. I wanted a husband, and kids, so that guided me toward a stable long-term relationship, and eventually I settled down, got married, and had kids. Been married now for 40 years.
I would sum up Betty's views on sex as healthy - for people who aren't sex addicts - exciting, very rich, deep, personal. Exploring the extreme edges of sexual experience.
Perhaps it's my astrological chart that causes me to be the way I am; shy, private, internal, honest, and more conservative. So Betty's honest openness makes me uncomfortable, yet I understand it.
And the photo of her in the studio; I actually took a drawing class in the 70's at Kings-borough Community College (right there at the end of Manhattan Beach in Brooklyn). I had no business being in the class, but was just out of high school, and wanted to try everything. We did have a live male nude model. Quite challenging for someone who has zero natural talent. But it was awesome. You can imagine the atmosphere in that room full of 18 & 19 year olds.
As far as your talk about self sex, well, some of us got there on our own early on without anyone explaining it or discussing it. I did recommend it to a young person once though. To me that is also personal and something to hold for myself and myself alone, not something to share.
Watching Betty Dodson speak, and the photo of her in her groovy days of youth is very
helpful to me when it comes to taking in her views on sex.

I mentioned my daughter was going to the Adirondacks for the eclipse.
She is going to AuSable which is near Vermont and Lake Champagne. I wish I was going too!
I have a question about the glasses. Some on the internet of crazy say don't believe them if
"they" are handing out glasses all over the place, you shouldn't wear them. You can safely look at the eclipse.
Can I get some guidance?
Thanx
how would you sum up her views on sex?
