How beautifully you recited the Cremation of Sam Mc Gee! Your voice painted pictures and I could almost feel the cold. My mother and grandmother loved the poetry of Robert Service and this one in particular. Thank you for the unexpected stroll down memory lane.
This is the only poem I ever memorized as a kid, and performed, in a theater workshop:
Fire & Ice
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

My grandfather, who homesteaded in Alberta, loved this poem...
you never fail to make me smile

In The Eyes,
Of MoonGazers...
PIRATES, OF FIRE, ON ICE
A smile
Once,
Now...
Forever seen.
Author of author
Muses chaired
Seeing, unseen.
Moorings there, in air,
Curled silk lashings
Lash the tethered winds,
& Vessel leans on the wind.
Stargazer diver,
Divines
The story's sky.
Lock's waves stream
Like yesterday's morning rise
Gentle gem & bejeweled ports
Cast no shadow, only light.
Pen to pencil,
And pad to paper clear.
A doggie naps upon a footed rug.
