A Holistic Investigation

Dear Friend and Reader:

Good evening. Tomorrow is a milestone in my work on what I consider the most significant and urgent story of my journalism career. If you have a moment, I’d like to share something about that with you.

When I began publishing Covid19 News on March 3, 2020 — a daily news blog devoted to building the record of the newly-unfolding crisis — I was concerned that I was getting a late start on the issue. Then the voice of experience responded: it won’t seem like a late start for long.

So I gathered my colleagues at Planet Waves and explained how we would be doing the story: thoroughly. And we would be focusing on the PCR, which we were being told was a test for a virus. And so we did.

Many of you reading have made our work possible through your contributions of money, ideas, references, work, graitude and goodwill. Thank you.

As of Sunday, Nov. 27, we began one thousand days ago: that’s 143 weeks, 24,000 hours, or 1.44 million minutes. I have not worked on the issue all of those hours and minutes, but most of them, and every single day. My diary of what I learned is called Day 1,000: A Holistic Investigation.

Alongside of that, I have an article would make an excellent summation for a tribunal in The Hague. As I have said in several interviews, we work to the level of preparation for a judge and jury. This is a high standard, bred into my soul, that goes beyond the issue itself and reaches into all of the ways that my investigative team and I conduct ourselves in the world. We know we are working under a magnifying glass, and sometimes, in the glare of a spotlight.

We at Chiron Return and Planet Waves have held a nonstop vigil all of that time. Many people have written to me and said they would have gone insane had they not had the gentle, steady, cool-minded coverage that we offered, and continue to offer.

In addition to reporting on the government and corporate angles, from the very first days, we approached the issue from a holistic perspective, including the wisdom of homeopathy, naturopathic medicine, herbalism, chiropractic and mental wellbeing. And we consistently do something else I don’t see much of: fully embrace the spiritual side of the issues, which I consider the underlying cause of all of this.

Facing The Cliff

I’m familiar with the feeling of having to scale a cliff in order to get the story. Many times I start and I know that getting a result may take many months or years — or may never happen. Investigative reporting means you don’t know the outcome in advance.

The first time I felt this was at age 19, when I was standing in an evacuated neighborhood built over a toxic waste dump that New York State wanted to move people back into — a 40-foot deep trench filled with barrels of chemical and nuclear waste, covered over, and used as the site of two schools and a housing development.

The feeling of these looming issues and a massive coverup can be mentally and emotionally overwhelming, and I have learned to set it aside and carry on.

I am grateful that I have the strength, the presence of mind, and the willingness to do so. I am grateful to have the leadership skills and self-esteem necessary to build a team around me. I am grateful to be able to write coherently and tell you what I learn, whether I think you will like it or not. I am deeply grateful to those of you who have written checks to make sure we can keep this work moving forward.

The Pressure to Do Nothing but Comply

What was going down in early 2020 was different because it was so encompassing, the threat made to seem as big as nuclear war, and the pressure to do nothing except comply was so strong. Everyone was made to feel like if they did one thing wrong, they would kill all the people around them.

The thing called “covid” was turned on us like an onslaught of fire hoses, pepper spray and civil defense warning sirens. Anyone who was surprised by my decision to dig into the issues and get to the bottom of things did not know me so well.

We experienced a classic shock-and-awe campaign, which left most people with no bandwidth to consider any of the facts, or to understand history.

Therefore, on March 3, 2020, I commissioned a chronology back to the beginning, which I thought would be some time in late 2019 but which turned out to be 1919, because we had to investigate the many claims being made about “Spanish Flu.”

Throughout these 1,000 days of covering and uncovering the “covid” crisis, we have done our best to tell you not just what is happening, but what has happened in the past and what we think it means — doing our best to be objective and impartial news reporters, never once resorting to sensationalism or speculation. I see my primary role as providing context to these troubling events.

There is nothing quite like what we are doing. I feel so strongly about developing this into a next-level news organization that I have volunteered my time all of these 1,000 days. My goals for 2023 include building a team of interns, headed by a News Editor and a Music Editor. We want to expand our coverage and prepare more broadcast-ready segments for the Pacifica Network.
